SWEET ORANGE
Unlike most essential oils that are extracted using steam distillation, most citrus oils including Sweet Orange Oil are extracted by cold pressing the rinds of the orange. You will sometimes find a steam distilled variety on the market, but it is fairly uncommon.
When you have peeled an orange, have you ever noticed tiny droplets spray from the peel (not the fruit segments) and noticed a burst of orange aroma at the same time? What you noticing is the essential oil that lives in the rind escaping as you peel the fruit. The next time that you peel an orange (or other citrus fruit), try pressing a portion of the rind between your fingers, and you should be able to smell the intense aroma of the essential oil escaping from the rind.
Orange essential oil can be used for a variety of applications that range from lifting mood and reducing stress to adding a fresh, citrusy aroma to a room.
LAVENDER
Lavender Essential Oil smells floral, fresh, sweet, herbaceous and sometimes slightly fruity. It can be slightly camphorous.
Lavender essential oil is one of the most popular and versatile essential oils used in aromatherapy. Distilled from the plant Lavandula angustifolia, the oil promotes relaxation and believed to treat anxiety, fungal infections, allergies, depression, insomnia, eczema, nausea, and menstrual cramps.
The King of Essential Oils! The Egyptians used it in their religious ceremonies and also used it to embalm their dead. It is also very well known as being part of the trilogy of gifts brought to the birth of Jesus by the three kings.
It was also used in Ancient Greece and Rome for medicinal purposes. During the Middle Ages, it was one of the most valuable commodities in the world. It was traded along the Silk Route and was worth more than its weight in gold. With such a long history of use, it’s easy to see how it is still one of the most popular essential oils in the world.
There are many uses and benefits of Frankincense essential oil. Of course, you can use it in a diffuser or nebuliser to freshen the air in your home. Use it to relax while spending time with your family or use it on your own to help with meditation.
